The Challenge
Mercedes-Benz, a truck engine factory in São Paulo, faced the challenge of reducing downtime for machines that were bottlenecking production. To achieve this, it needed to reduce the mobilization time of maintenance teams in case of failure, as well as generate production indicators such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) that would allow for better analysis of production problems.
The solution
Allexo®, using its ALX family of gateways, implemented a system to monitor the operational status of each machine, tracking key components (inverters, motors, etc.). A local touchscreen interface system was also installed to allow operators to monitor faults in real time, and for the maintenance team to indicate the reasons for downtime. All information is sent in real time to Allexo®'s IoTHINGS® cloud platform for the OEE module, which, in case of faults, triggers real-time alert messages to the maintenance team's WhatsApp.
